Dinotica Companions
A 1.0 roster near fifty species. Confirmed names, role buckets, and the nine Dark Forest newcomers we will not rename.
Companions are the centre of Dinotica. They ride, they fight on AI, they hunt, they farm, and they eat. This page is the encyclopedia for that roster — not a fake list of fifty English nicknames. When the client shows a name, use the client. When only Traditional Chinese press named a new body, we keep that script.
How the roster is organised
Early Access advertised 40 unique pets. 1.0 adds nine, landing near 50. Each has a basic attack, a special, talents for work or war, and colour variants. You hatch them after expeditions, not by shrinking a field boss. Procedures live on How to Tame and Hatch and How to Breed. Rankings live on the Combat Tier List and Worker Tier List.
Role buckets used on this wiki:
- Rider — the mount you steer.
- AI partner — the two bodies that roam.
- Support — walls, pulls, tethers, area denial.
- Worker — hunting, farming, crafting, sanitation.
A single species can cover more than one bucket. That does not mean it should cover all of them in the same hour. The Team Builder exists to stop that mistake.
Confirmed English names and kits
Vexora — Annihilation Barrage. Patch 1.10.1 doubled projectile speed and halved the interval. Combat rider energy.
Gluttony — Earthshaking Devour. A pull that had a chance to fail; the same patch fixed the miss chance. Grouping support.
Kapi Bee — Dual Bee Pursuit Sting. Splitting effect re-inherited in 1.10.1. Multiplier kit. Added in 1.9.0 as a Capybara Store roll.
Cindarok — Flame Whirl. Patch 1.9.1 lets it absorb projectiles. Useful in dense rifts if you can still see the rest of the room.
Speedy — Shield Chance raised from 10% to 25% in 1.9.1. A survival talent, not a hunting post.
Cunninga — associated with a Frontier Demo cosmetic, not a full kit dump. Treat as a skin lead, not a hidden S-tier.
A long Steam review described a biome-two dino that dropped defensive walls, later made lethal by relics. No English proper name was given. If you hatch a wall kit, keep it and read Totem Builds.
1.0 newcomers (Traditional Chinese strings)
Launch coverage listed: 倉羽迅龍, 海妖, 混沌, 冥焰海妖, 墨綠荊魔, 泡鱗海獸, 青焰翼龍, 猶尾毒蠍, 紫晶甲蟲. Several of those names also appear as Dark Forest bosses — 青焰翼龍, 陵魚, 墨綠荊魔, 冥焰海妖, 混沌 — which means at least some 1.0 bodies are encounter-first. Hatch what you loot. Log the basic shot. Do not wait for this page to invent a Western name.
Care and slots
Companions need food, beds, and dung management. Slot caps for hunts and battle parties rise with base level, often after biome bosses. See Buildings and Farm and Base. Online co-op does not share hatcheries.
If a kit fills the screen and the client dies, that is a hardware plus totem issue, not a companion bug you can breed out. Keep a simpler rider.
For chapter context, use Maps. For whether collecting all fifty is worth the RNG, the Review already recorded the grind fatigue. Collect the jobs you need, then stop.
Colour variants are not new species. Log them as cosmetics on a body you already ranked. If a 1.0 hatchling has no English string yet, write the script you see in the client and a one-line shot description — “slow melee,” “spread pellet,” “wall drop.” That note is more useful than waiting for this encyclopedia to invent a Western nickname. When an official English patch names the kit, the row will change to match the patch, not a fan translation.
Do not keep a crash-kit rider because it is new. Particle specials belong on the worker bench until your GPU and your totem stack agree. The System Requirements page is the hardware half of that decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers drawn from the current 1.0 build.
How many companions are in 1.0?
About fifty unique species, nine of them new at full launch, according to developer launch notes.
Will you add a complete English name list?
Only as names appear in English patches, the client, or official posts. We will not guess.
Are boss dinos hatchable?
Some 1.0 names appear as both bosses and new species in press. Loot the egg if it drops; do not assume every boss becomes a pal.
Where should I rank a new hatchling?
Test the basic shot, assign a role, then check the combat or worker tier list.
